Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) is one of the most celebrated Russian composers and a central figure of late Romanticism. His intense, melodically rich and deeply emotional music has captivated audiences around the world thanks to his ability to fuse European tradition with Russian sensibility. The author of beloved operas such as Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty, as well as symphonies, concertos, and operas such as Eugene Onegin and The Lady of Spades, Tchaikovsky is known for the expressive immediacy of his writing and his extraordinary orchestral mastery. His life was marked by strong inner contrasts, between personal fragility and the need for affirmation, between longing for love and loneliness. However, his music, often tinged with melancholy, always manages to touch universal chords, speaking directly to the listener’s heart.
